Biography

A Disciplined, Record-Driven Advocate

Gregory Salmon is a tireless fighter for New York prison inmates. As the lead attorney of New York Criminal Appeals Attorneys, he devotes his practice to appellate advocacy and post-conviction relief, the demanding work of challenging convictions and sentences that should not stand.

His approach is disciplined and record-driven. Appeals are won not with courtroom theatrics but with a meticulous command of the trial record and the law that governs it. He reads what happened line by line, isolates the errors that matter, and frames them into arguments an appellate court can act on.

Before founding the practice, Gregory served as a public defender in New York State and maintained a private criminal law practice handling both trial and appellate matters. That background spans the full range of criminal cases, from misdemeanor representation through serious felonies, in both state and federal courts, and it informs how he reads a record today: from the perspective of someone who has stood in the well of the courtroom.
